New Product Website Launch

I've launched a new website where I give you a review of various health and fitness products that include exercise and fitness books, equipment, supplements, etc., from other authors and companies (just as an FYI, I'll be launching my own products in the near future so keep an eye out for that).

If you know of any product (or service) that you'd like for me to review, please don't hesitate to e-mail me and let me know and I'll see if it's worthy enough to add to this new website.

Okay, enough babbling. The new website is called www.LBfreview.com. Go check it out and let me know what you think.

Hey Mike, What are your thoughts on the Beach Body Fitness Company? Tony horton is great I think,I do not have theP90X but I have a few of his half hour videos, and Chalene Johnsons Turbo Jam etc. I was thinking about getting the Chalene Extreme video. Just wondering your thoughts. Also, There is a protein powder mix I found only at the Gibralter GNC called MAX protein, low calorie. It is low carb, low sugar, high protein and I like it alot, but cant seem to find it at any other GNC or their website. Just wondering your thoughts on these, Thanks Carrie

Hi Carrie. I've never done the p90X program but I have three concerns about it from what I've read:
1. The concept of "muscle confusion" is...confusing..It is true that you need to change things up from time to time in order not to plateau. But, you also need to give your body time to adapt to what you are doing in order to progress. Meaning, if you keep changing things up to soon, then you could run into the problem of not reaching a plateau because you aren't moving anywhere.
2. I have real concerns with a program that implements plyometrics on untrained people. Plyometrics (jumping is an example) can put tremendous force on joints, especially the knees. If you're taking someone that was sedentary and giving them those types of exercises, you are greatly increasing the chance of injury (especially since you are not performing this in front of a trainer to tell you if you are doing it correctly or not). We do some in class but a) not for very long b) they are lower on the impact scale and c) I'm there to correct any problems that I see if your form.
3. I find it interesting that after doing the P90x, a person can just sign up to be a P90X coach and work with other people, answer their fitness and nutrition questions. So just doing a program for 12 weeks qualifies them to essentially be a personal trainer? Think about it with hair. Did you just become a hairstylist after going and getting your hair cut once and that's all the qualification that was necessary?:)

In summary, not a big fan of the program.

On your protein question, I'm not a fan of any protein supplement. In my opinion, it's not needed. We get plenty of protein from our diet. Contrary to what the supplement companies tell us, if you're getting between 80-120 grams a day (which isn't that hard to do) then you're fine (and even less than 80 is okay too). Save your money and just buy a package of chicken breasts instead!
